"Mummy did i ever tell you about..."

Day 44

The native tongue of Cohen is widely used in our household. Hours and hours of blah, ga, da, bloo, ooo anywhere anytime...nothing much that actually make sense though. He will sit you down and tell you about the ways of his world at any opportunity, its so amusing. The day that he can actually communicates is going to keep me mighty busy, answer all those 'why' and 'how' questions with actual answers is going to test my knowledge. I think google is going to be my best friend for a couple of years, either that or - "go ask your father"!

I'll do what i want

Day 43

We headed to New Farm park for MG today. Cohen was a lot more adventurous than last time and wanted to climb on and through everything. He also has absolutely no stranger danger or safe distance rules as he constantly wandered off and joined other peoples circles to say hi and play with their toys. I got a few looks from other parents of 'who owns this child' as i ran over apologetically and removed him from the middle of their games. He then decided to try the play equipment out for size, as last time he was a little too small to wedge himself up, so he was delighted that this time he was jut a little bit taller. I trailed closely behind him as he navigated through the chains and floating boards thinking he was mighty clever traveling from one end to the other solo. My comment of 'careful, hold on tight' was meet with a 'don't tell me what to do mum, i know what i'm doing' look...great the attitude has started already!

My other boy

Day 42

Thought i would take a break from 'the blog of Cohen' and give my other boy a little of the spotlight. This is Tonka! Aka Tonka Truck...the standard size Labrodoodle that thinks he's a lap dog. He's a big ball of fluff and we love him to bits. Kindest nature and a big sop, its so fun watching Cohen play with him and Poppy (Tonka's younger chocolate chaos sister)...he climbs all over them, poking and pulling, and they just sit there not phased at all - love it!

Something seems to be wrong here

Day 41

After i noticed Cohen was a little too quiet, with camera in hand i went to investigate. I found him muttering to himself whilst standing in his cart looking down puzzled at why it wasn't moving. I think all the handyman jobs Chad has been doing around the house over the past couple of weeks might be starting to rub off on Cohen...as he then jumped of the cart flipped it on its side and begun to look at the wheels and underside of his vehicle.

I was trying so hard not to get noticed as i watched in amazement as he looked it over. I half expected him to stand up and scratch his head and kick the wheel saying "yep she's broke alright"...agh bless...

Back to normal

Day 40
We are all back to normal...thanks everyone for checking in and wishing us well. Its good to have everyone back to their usual selves...even though i did like all the cuddles i got from my sick boy!

I dont know about this place!

Day 39

I found a great little leafy trail that i thought would be so lovely for todays pic. With a cute winding path, lush green foliage and just the right amount of sunshine peaking through the trees. Perfect i thought...i did not however count on one small boy being a little scared of all those rustling sounds and moving branches. My frustration was over come with laughter as i reassured Cohen that he was alright and i just wanted to take a few photos then we could go. My comments were met with a 'what was that!? I think i heard something" look then tears...haha kids nothing ever goes to plan : )

One big boy and his milk

Day 38

Cohen has now performed a weaning hat-trick and no longer has a bottle. He has informed me that now he is a 'big boy' he would like his milk in a sippy cup after his nap. I should be excited and pleased that i don't have to go through the weaning process but a little part of me did like knowing that a bottle would send him to sleep no matter where we were. Maybe he'll continue this trend of self teaching and toilet train himself....haha wishful thinking!

MG catch up

Day 37

After many of our mums have returned to work, our weekly mothers group catch ups have become very small. SO it was lovely to have everyone able to make our weekend lunch. This group of wonderful women have been such a support over the past year, answering many questions and concerns or just lending an ear to listen. I was so lucky to have found such a great group whom i will remain friends with as Cohen grows. Thanks ladies!

Thankful #4 - Beautiful Mornings

I woke today to the sun shining through the trees on a beautiful Saturday morning. As i stood at the kitchen sink and peered into the light it made me stop and just be for a minute, it was lovely...

Quarantined

Day 34

Today we have been quarantined - yep all 3 of us! You can't say we aren't a sharing family...last night Cohen and I started to go down hill and today Chad followed suit. Needless to say today we were all feeling very sorry for ourselves. Poor Cohen wouldn't have known what was going on, with an aching body there was plenty of cuddles and snuggles going around. I even got very spoilt with him napping on the couch with me while i watched half a movie -  divine!

All kids love bubbles

Day 33

Its amazing how kids faces light up when bubbles are around. From trying to catch them before they pop, to picking them up and even trying to eat them....its a joy to watch. I love watching the excitement in his expressions.

jx

Its like that!

Day 32

This photo makes me laugh...today we went to the powerhouse and Cohen put on a show for everyone by running around and posing for the camera. We had a few comments on how he 'hates' the camera! He was dancing around like he was in a Run DMC film clip, giggling and loving the attention he was getting...geez what have we got ourselves in for!?

Me and my Dad

Day 31

It always brings a smile to my face when i walk in on Chad and Cohen reading together. Think he is going to love Chad being home to read to him before bed time. Great 'daddy time'!
Cohen is constantly bringing books up to anyone who will take the time to sit down and read to him, reading makes him so happy.

Rain

Day 30

Today was the first day we had rain this month. It was a nice change as it brought out some little treasures on the deck...who knew a dried leaf could be so beautiful.

Afternoon sunshine

Day 27

We had a lovely afternoon soaking up the last of the days sun before it turned into chilly night. I am really enjoying getting out each day and finding a new place for Cohen to run around an explore while i sit and marvel at how much of a little kid he is becoming.....bliss!

Growing grip on the world

Day 26

I decided to have a shoes off day at the park today, Cohen just doesn't get enough shoes off time as i'm too worried he will get sick, and sick babies = no fun for mum! When we arrived and i put him down on the grass, he was hilarious, he jumped straight back onto my knees as if he's never felt grass before. Once he got used to it there was no stopping him. He's starting to get some speed to his run...not sure about his 'safe distance' zone, seems it doesn't exist or if it does its quite large! Oh well guess we just have a confident little man on our hands, will have to include 'save distance' in the 'stranger danger' lesson.

Ride to conquer Cancer

Day 24

Today Chad cooked a mean BBQ at a fundraiser for 'The ride to Conquer Cancer' event to be held on August 20-21, 2011. Riding throughout Queensland's scenic countryside in two days. We have some very dear friends who are embarking on this enormous challenge, and they need all the dollars they can get before the set off on their ride. So please if you are able to donate please follow the below links....thanks in advance!

Too tired to take my shoes off....

Day 23

The luxury of having 2 sleeps during the day is slowly slipping away and today i was too scared that taking his shoes off would wake him, that he left them on....didn't seam to bother him, haha...

Mmmmm Smoothies

Day 22

A sure fire way to make my boy happy is to put a smoothie in front of him and watch his little fingers twiddle with excitement as he reaches for the cup. Today was blueberry smoothie with a little twist of spirulina, some LSA and fibre husk mix for added bulk and goodness. Lucky he doesn't know any better as i'm sure i wont be able to put this past him when he's older.

Baby in basket

Day 21

Cohen has figured out how to open the dirty clothes basket. I find all sorts of 'presents' in there. From toothbrushes, to trucks and his drink bottle....however today i found a small child. Not looking to happy after he has realised that he can't get himself out. I wonder if he's learnt from this or if i'll find another 'present' tomorrow!?

Peek-a-boo...

Day 20

Every time i open the door to get Cohen out of the car i am met with the cutest little face as he peeks over the side of the seat. He finds it so amusing that i pop my head in and release him ready for his next adventure.

Thankful #3 - Warm Windy Winters days

Thank you perfect Queensland weather, even in the winter you know how to turn on the best. I am so thankful for days like today; i am able to do 3 loads of washing, hang them out and have them dry ready to fold and put away that night. Makes doing the washing 'slightly' enjoyable. Although i can't believe i'm blogging about doing the washing, what a little house wife i've turned into.

Ban-an-an-ana....

Day 19

Today we found Banana's for $6.59, yes thats right $6.59!!! Needless to say we bought up.....and this boy loves his 'nanies'! He devoured an entire banana in about 2 mins (if that). He was so cute as we walked down to our local fruit shop. Sitting in his trike he waved to all the cars and anyone who was out and about. Once we got to the fruit shop he yelled out to the women behind the counter with a "ello" and a huge wave, followed by his signature one eyebrow smile. Charming the ladies already.

jx

Trying to tame a lion

Day 18

After our evening bath it is becoming increasingly harder to try and dress the child! I find myself pinning him down with a pile of distractive toys by my side to fool him into staying still for 2 mins. Tonight we had a little lion man who just wanted to be wild and free, running around laughing at ever plunge i made to try and catch him! Cheeky cheeky cheeky....

jx

Thankful #2 - Influential Males

I am so thankful for having the most amazingly beautiful males not only in my life but as role models and teachers for Cohen. I know that by about the age of 5 Cohen will become more and more interested in what dad does. I will loose my shadow and Chad will have a million questions to answer about 'how does this work' and 'what goes here', 'what does this do'...it brings a little smile to my face knowing that Cohen has the best footsteps to follow in!

My husband is the most beautiful man i know, and the most wonderful father. I am so lucky to have met and married my best friend so we could make little people together. I love you x

Cohen and my 'Papa'. A man so loyal and caring words can not express how much he means to me. I never knew that peoples hearts could be so big!

Having a conversation with 'Poppy'...i can see that being a regular occurrence as he is a wealth of knowledge. Such a beautifully humble man, with so much love to give.

Chaos with a capital 'C'

Day 16

He's a boy alright! Into, under and behind everything. Today was an eventful day, every time i turned around he was into something else. Masked with such an innocent look of 'look mummy, look what i found, did you know it was here'. Definitely keeping the day interesting. We have taken to going to the park quite a bit to try and burn off some energy, to avoid the house being completely turned upside down, but with him looking like he'll be dropping a sleep very soon, my days are only going to get more crazy...welcome to being a parent of a toddler!
